NOVUS International will present three new studies at the 16th International Symposium on Digestive Physiology of Pigs (DPP), highlighting strategies to improve gut health, growth, and survivability in nursery pigs. Global Swine Research Manager Jesús Acosta, Ph.D., and Technical Services Manager Alex Hintz, DVM, will share the research at the event in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, later this month.
The first study explores NOVUS® PB Feed Solution, a fat matrix-protected benzoic acid, in weaned pigs. Pigs receiving NOVUS® PB showed fewer incidents of diarrhoea and better feed efficiency compared to those on free benzoic acid, even when challenged with E. coli or raised in commercial conditions, demonstrating its value in gut health support.
Another study examines ACTIVATE® WD Max Nutritional Feed Acid, a water-administered solution, on pig survivability and growth. Pigs supplemented with this solution showed better growth performance, exit weights, and lower mortality rates, emphasizing the benefits of water acidification in the nursery phase.
A third study highlights ACTIVATE® DA Nutritional Feed Acid, an organic acid blend, which supported improved pig quality and lower mortality in commercial conditions, especially when combined with free benzoic acid and pharmacological levels of zinc oxide.
“These studies demonstrate our commitment to providing practical, science-based solutions that enhance piglet survivability and performance,” said Acosta.
