Kemin Industries has announced the approval of CLOSTAT® for all categories of pigs within the European Union, aiming to enhance intestinal health throughout the entire production cycle. This authorisation was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on December 19, 2024, following a favourable assessment from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
Valid from January 8, 2025, for a period of 10 years, CLOSTAT® features the probiotic Bacillus velezensis ATCC PTA‐6737 (previously known as Bacillus subtilis) as a gut flora stabiliser. For over 20 years, CLOSTAT® has supported pig producers globally by promoting microbiome management and reducing antibiotic use for preventive health.
Originally approved for sows and post-weaning piglets, it is now accessible for the entire lifecycle of pigs, from farrowing to finishing. It provides a scientifically supported method for managing gut health.
Kemin emphasises its commitment to innovation and sustainability through CLOSTAT®. The product not only increases productivity but also optimises nutrient absorption, promotes animal welfare, and aids the EU’s antibiotic reduction goals.
