Amandus Kahl Celebrates 150 Years of Engineering and Growth

Amandus Kahl GmbH & Co. KG, a leading manufacturer of pellet mills, plant engineering and turnkey production systems, is marking its 150th anniversary in 2026 under the motto ‘150 Years of Innovation – Tradition with a Future.‘ The milestone highlights the company’s sustained role in mechanical and plant engineering across feed, biomass, recycling, food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Founded in 1876 in northern Germany, Amandus Kahl has evolved from a small foundry into a globally recognised provider of industrial machinery and custom production plants. The company’s long history of technical innovation has been anchored by its core product—the flat-die pellet mill—which has been continually adapted to meet diverse industrial needs.

In 1965, Amandus Kahl consolidated its design, production and engineering operations at its current Reinbek headquarters, laying the foundation for modern expansion and ongoing investment in manufacturing capability and process technology. Over the decades, the company’s portfolio has grown to include expanders, extruders, pan grinder mills, crushing roller mills, dryers, coolers and fluidised bed plants, as well as complete turnkey solutions for multiple sectors.

Today, Amandus Kahl is the flagship of the KAHL Group, which includes several specialised engineering companies and employs around 900 people worldwide. The company continues to prioritise innovation, quality and sustainability, reflecting its customers’ needs and emerging market trends in industrial plant engineering.

“Our anniversary is an opportunity to reflect proudly on the developments of the past 150 years and, at the same time, set the course for the future,” said Managing Director Joachim Behrmann. “Innovation arises where experience and curiosity come together. This interplay between tradition and the future has shaped our company for generations and will remain a central component of our corporate culture.”
