Bühler Networking Days: Connecting industry challenges with solutions

Bühler successfully connected industry challenges with innovative solutions at its recent Scale-Up Day during the Networking Days event. This initiative gathered 21 high-impact scale-ups with established technologies and experience to engage with Bühler’s global network of customers, partners, and investors.

“Innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. These companies are solving problems our customers face today, or will face soon,” said Thierry Duvanel, Director of Innovation at Bühler North America. The event aimed to address pressing issues in food systems, sustainability, and climate solutions, fostering partnerships that can grow businesses and amplify their impact.

Scale-Up Day focused on collaboration, allowing mature start-ups ready for market and operational success to connect with key decision-makers. “We wanted our customers to walk away with not just inspiration but action points and real partnerships that lead to real deployment,” Duvanel explained.

The 21 participating start-ups were carefully selected through a rigorous process, working with leading venture capital firms. Many of these companies offer proven solutions in areas such as alternative proteins and sustainable materials. “We look for big ideas which, if we can make them a reality, will completely transform the world,” noted Andrew Ive, Founder of Big Idea Ventures.

Set against the backdrop of Bühler’s Networking Days, which attracted over 1,200 industry leaders, Scale-Up Day provided a platform for showcasing solutions that can drive business growth and create a positive environmental impact.

For example, Brevel, an Israel-based company, produces food ingredients through an innovative illuminated fermentation process, creating alternatives to traditional proteins. Similarly, California’s Rondo has developed a heat storage battery to convert surplus renewable energy into heat for industrial use.

These interactions at Scale-Up Day highlighted Bühler’s commitment to supporting fresh ideas and collaborations that can lead to actionable solutions in the ever-evolving landscape of food and sustainability.
