Here in the UK office, we are enjoying the recent photos shared from AgWired:
Another new member has joined The International Milling Directory.
The Taiwan-based manufacturer is a company dedicated to ‘complete instrumentation solutions’. FineTek’s product line includes a varied and wide quantity of digital controllers and meters, pneumatic products, safety instruments, level switch transmitters for solid and liquid applications. However all impressive this range of categories are, we are interested most in the manufacture of the level sensor for silo bulk storage. This product is the key selling point for a justifiable place in the International Milling Directory. This alone is all the more impressive considering their research and development arm is an integral part of the company, which sets a strong “backbone” of the company.

The International Milling Directory has a new member in its ranks.
Please give a warm welcome on this cold day to Borg Mills of Egypt. The are a specialist in wheat milling and bring The International Milling Directory further diversified listings to serve new markets. The broad horizons attract new members and our 22nd edition 2013/14 will surely be all the better for the inclusion of Borg Mills. Mr Mazin Merkkawi is their registered contact for more information and details about their business activity.

Hello and welcome to the IMD newsletter on what is a bitter winters morning here at IMD HQ in the UK. We are still sifting through lots of information and feedback from EuroTier 2012 which, took place in Germany earlier this month. We were delighted to have worked with the organisers there as media-supporter for the event and having met so many of you it has given us all plenty to be optimistic about for 2013. Over the coming weeks you will notice on our blog (millinginternational.com) that we will be posting videos, pictures and other articles that we have accumulated at the show itself so a big thanks to anybody that took part in those.
If you exhibited a product at the show and would like it to be featured on millinginternational.com please feel free to get in touch with any of us here at IMD HQ.
Next up we look forward to meeting you at Isrmax 2012, which takes place in India next month (13th-15th) where we are also serving as media-supporter. You can still book a stand at the show free-of-charge by contacting our International Sales & Marketing Manager, Darren Parris.
Tom Blacker will be acting as Interim Manager for IMD.
Finally it is with a heavy heart that I announce that I am due to leave my position as IMD Coordinator at the end of this month
to move closer to my growing family. It has been thoroughly enjoyable getting to know so many of you and upholding the prestigious reputation that the IMD has in serving the global-milling community. Based on the tremendous achievements that we have celebrated this year I am confident for that reputation to go on from strength to strength.
I am pleased that Tom Blacker will be acting as Interim Manager for the IMD until further notice, you can contact him for all things IMD on +44 1242 267700 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.

We end our series on VIV China 2012 with some great news. After such an exciting and successful exhibition this year we are delighted to have been involved and look forward to attending future events along with our fellow industry peers and clients.
Our last installment relates to the event but a little before it started this year. On Monday August 6, 2012, the representatives of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) China Branch, the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (CAAV) and VNU Exhibitions Europe have signed the agreement regarding the Strategic Partnership for the organization of the World’s Poultry Congress (WPC) 2016 and VIV China 2016 in Beijing. WPC 2016 will take place in the China National Convention Center (CNCC), September 5-9. VIV China will be held at the New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC), September 6-8. The signing ceremony took place at WPC 2012 in Salvador, Brazil.
All 4 partners foresee in this Strategic Partnership a winning co-operation to unite Poultry scientists and businessmen worldwide in Beijing in September 2016. The XXV WPC 2016 is co-hosted by the China Branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA-CN) and the CAAV. VIV China 2016 is organized by VNU Exhibitions Europe, the Head Quarters of VIV Worldwide, and its Chinese partner Beijing Tech Convention and Exhibition Center.
During the signing ceremony in Salvador, Ning Yang, Ph.D., President, China Branch of WPSA and Ruwan Berculo, Project Manager VIV, officially announced this exclusive co-operation. Ning Yang comments: “The exhibition has become an important activity as part of the World’s Poultry Conferences. In VIV China we have found our preferred partner to establish a high-quality international exhibition”. Ruwan Berculo adds: “At VIV, we value the opportunity to bring Business and Science together, which is in the interest of a bright future for the global Poultry industries. Our Strategic Partnership with WPC 2016 forms a true highlight in the mission to strengthen our events”.
Although it is still 4 years away from now, WPSA-CN, CAAV, VNUE E and BT have already defined an extensive program of activities to ensure that WPC 2016 and VIV China 2016 will become one combined event for all players in our industry. Over the course of time, more detailed information will become available.
Naturally we here at Perendale Publishers are very excited about this development which signifies a great enhancement in the importance for VIV China, remarking its reputation as a not to be missed event. Our representatives were so glad to have attended VIV China 2012 where we met so many of a valued clients and even made some new friends along the way.
Hello and welcome to what I suppose you could call a new series of our introductions to those of you listed with IMD for 2012/13 and who are appearing in IMD21.
This week we introduce a company returning once again to IMD where for another year they will enjoy international exposure to millers and milling service-providers across the globe.
Always on the move, VIGAN Engineering S.A. designs and manufactures harbour equipment and more particularly ship loaders and unloaders.
They lead the way in mobile portable grain pumps (120 to 270 tons/hour) that are particularly flexible with a wide range of accessories available allowing cargo handling in many different working configurations. For higher capacity requirements (200 to 800 tons/hour) VIGAN offer their own pneumatic Continuous Ship Unloaders on gantry called “NIV”. Self-propelled on tires or rails, they can be powered by diesel engine or electrical motors and each machine is bespoke designed based on the customers needs.
VIGAN’s range of equipment stretches beyond pumps though. Their catalogue also includes a mechanical CSU called “SIMPORTER” designed to meet very high discharging rates up to 1,500 metric tons/hour. It is particularly suitable for large bulk carriers. The twin-belt SIMPORTER technology offers major benefits: efficiency, cost-effectiveness (minimum energy consumption, reduced operational and maintenance cost) and environment-friendly qualities such as minimum noise, dust control, and no product breakage.
Besides unloading equipment, VIGAN’s mechanical shiploaders (rail-mounted, on tires or stationary)are suitable for almost any kind of bulk products (with a density from 0.2 to 1.8) on any kind of barge or vessel based on requirements (up to 1,200tonnes/hour)
VIGAN also provide a seemingly infinite wisdom of other harbour equipment based on more than 30 years experience. They now offer services in design projects such as mobile hoppers/bagging lines and quay conveyors, but also in turnkey port terminals delivery from engineering to commissioning, this includes silos & other storage.
We here at IMD HQ wish VIGAN every success this year and I would like to thank them for choosing IMD once again.
If you would like your company to feature as part of ‘Company Focus’ please feel free to get in touch.
Until next time!
Hello again to our dedicated subscribers and listed companies. To say it’s been an eventful month for IMD would be an understatement as gargantuan as Red Dwarf himself (well perhaps not that big but it has been pretty hectic).
As mentioned in my previous post the first draft of IMD21 was sent to the printers last week (September 7, 2012) and I am pleased to announce that it has since been put to press. This means that 8,000 printed copies of IMD21 will soon be sent out to those of you who have ordered yours for 2012/13.
Don’t forget you can still order a copy of IMD21 simply by visiting www.internationalmilling.com and clicking the relevant link, or indeed you can visit our publishers homepage at www.perendale.com.
Some of you have since contacted me with new artwork and materials for IMD21, unfortunately the deadline for this did pass some time ago for the printed edition. However for those of you who feel like you might have missed the boat, there is still plenty of opportunity to promote yourselves via our online editions (these can be found on Issuu, Scribd and Docstock) or right here at MillingInternational. So keep in touch, don’t forget that thanks to our continuous innovation we can take your products further through online advertising.
After the busy two months leading up to the printing of IMD21 there seemed no better way to celebrate than enjoying a wonderful day in London with the London & South-East Millers Society (LSEMS). Accompanied by several of my colleagues I got the chance to meet some important figures from the UK milling community, of which I am now pleased to be a member.
I should say a big thank you to Tony Evers (Secretary for LSEMS) for inviting us along and for the staff a Luc’s Brasserie for catering the event.
Now though, the planning begins for IMD22 and the hard work starts right here. In the coming weeks I will be holding a number of meetings with my fellow colleagues and designers on how we continue the progression of the industries most comprehensive directory. With this in mind I would love to hear your feedback or input!
Until next time!
