The International Milling Directory (IMD) is happy to say that it will be at Cereals 2013, the UK’s leading show for agricultural technology.
IMD’s publisher Perendale was present at Cereals 2012
On 12th-13th June 26,000 visitors and 490 exhibitors will descend on Boothby Graffoe, near Lincoln, for business-to-business (b2b) opportunities, crop plots and live demonstrations, including ones in the natural habitat of the Syngenta Sprays and Sprayers Arena. With over 64 hectares of stands, visitors are sure to get a comprehensive rundown of the arable industry.
Hot topics on this year’s agenda include recovering from the awful weather hitting the UK in the last few months, driving business efficiencies and adapting to the challenges of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reform.
Charles Blessley, Case IH‘s UK and Ireland marketing manager, expects it to be a good exhibition for machinery manufacturers.
“Cereals attracts progressive large-scale farmers and operators, so it provides the ideal venue to showcase our range of technically advanced machinery. Since last year’s event we have introduced a number of exciting new products which will be on display at Cereals 2013.”
Marketing manager at New Holland, Richard Spencer, believes Cereals 2013 is an “ideal platform” to discuss business with customers.
“The event attracts the key decision-makers in the arable sector. Cereals offers a great opportunity for visitors to talk through the options, and our technical staff look forward to showing what we can offer.”
Marketing Assistant Richard Sillett has joined the IMD team
The International Milling Directory (IMD) is excited to welcome Richard Sillett to its marketing team. Richard has spent most of his life living opposite a wheat field, but until recently what happened to the crops after they left the combine harvester was a mystery to him.
Needless to say, he’s excited to be helping the IMD in its mission to get the right information out to its global readership.
Perendale Publishers has this week launched The Global Milling News, a brand new news-portal devoted entirely to milling. Now agriculturalists, millers, manufacturers and enthusiasts alike can all keep up to date with the latest milling and commodities news from around the world and even search for stories specific to their chosen field.
Thanks to its unique filter and categorization system The Global Milling News will gather over 4,000 stories a day from no less than 2,000 online feeds, which promises to make it the worlds most comprehensive and trusted news-site for the milling industry worldwide.
This continues the much heralded tradition of it’s associate publications such as GFMT, to the extent that even the logo on The Global Milling News page dates back to 1891 when the publication was first established.
Readers will also be able to subscribe to the Global Milling News RSS bringing the world of milling directly to your Google-Reader account or any similar platform they may use. Better still, as a dedicated follower of millinginternational you will be able to read and access all of the news from Global Milling News straight from here by simply scrolling down the right hand column.
We at IMD are very pleased to be associated with this thrilling new venture and consider this to be a great catalyst in discovering new and pioneering ways of connecting the international milling community.

Company Profile pages are fast becoming one of the most popular and successful methods in enhancing your exposure with IMD. Most of you will by now be aware of what they are and how they are of benefit to you. But for those that aren’t already in the loop let me outline what they are all about…
Placed within the Equipment Guides section, Company Profile pages are a blank canvass that extends across a double page spread. What you place on this canvas? Well that is entirely up to you. As you will see in the slideshow below we already have a wide and varying range of styles and methodologies in how our customers use this space.
For the most part those who have participated in the past have submitted 300 word articles about their companies and accompanied them with logos and miscellaneous pictures related to their organisations. Others have used the space to focus on a specific product and again with the help of some good photography or artwork they have proven to be more than just an advert.
Let’s not forget how IMD marketing benefits all work together in a continuous distribution flow exposing and promoting you further and wider than first impression might perceive, your company profile page won’t just be seen by our 8,072 current print subscribers. It will reach the 41,000 (approx.) online readers visiting hosting websites such as Slideshare and Issuu where the IMD is also available and even further still every new company profile page that we create is posted right here on millinginternational. And then there is of course the circa 300,000+ visitors expected on our www.internationalmilling.com expected throughout the year where you profile will be displayed.
When you choose to participate in a Company Profile page you will be in direct contact with our design team who will take on board any feedback you have throughout the design process, giving you the required amount of control in creating the page to your exact design and style specifications.

A Company Profile page in IMD is so much more than an advert.
In an exciting first day at Cereals 2012 the event welcomed Dan Basse, President of AgResource Company. In a talk hosted by Agri Intelligence, the leading commentator and adviser to the UK and Chinese governments addressed Cereal 2012 visitors on World Food Supply and Demand.
His talk covered global crop marketing prospects saying that the key factors driving prices for the foreseeable future would be a combination of weather (in terms of drought and moisture stress in key production regions), biofuels and their demand for agrimony-based feedstocks and South East Asia and in particular China.
He focused more of his comments around wheat supply and demand taking in corn and soybean production towards suggestion of the current volatile period for grain prices and a bullish period ahead for wheat in particular.
The Ag President stated that two-thirds of a cereal farmer’s net revenue in the USA now arises from marketing activities. Based on his calculations he also mentioned, that GM technology in grain production had not delivered any corresponding increases in yields, however they had taken some of the volatility out of seasonal variation in output.
Mr Basse also took time to visit the IMD stand and meet our directors who were pleased to welcome him to IMD and discuss international milling. He will return to his home town Chicago, USA, having no doubt enjoyed his time at Cereals 2012 and even the UK weather!
