The Australian Technical Millers Association (ATMA) supports and advises Cereal Millers and Processors across Australia. The country is one of the largest grain producers World-wide.
Some 60% of the Australian crop exports mainly to Asia and the Middle East. Wheat is the largest crop contributing to some 57% of exports. Then there is Barley, 10% Oilseeds, 8% and Pulses, 6%. Aside from Wheat other product groups are, Rice – Milled and Whole Grain; Coarse Grains – Sorghum, Oats, Maize and Triticale; Pulses, which includes Lupins, Field Peas and Beans. The Oilseeds Group includes Canola, Soybeans and Sunflower seeds.
The Association offers extensive traditional training for Flour Millers, including the one- time City and Guilds course from NABIM (The British and Irish Millers Association). ATMA co-ordinate this course also, in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Also, it produces a Newsletter, various publications and informative Video Galleries.
