The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) leads International efforts World-wide to defeat hunger. Since its founding in 1945, the FAO has focused on developing rural areas, home to 70 per cent of the World’s poor and hungry populations.
The organisation provides vital, guiding varied communication resources including Data; Interactive Stories; Infographics and also pertinent Publications and operates a World-wide network of offices serving both developed and still developing Nations.
It also acts as a neutral Forum where all countries can meet as equals. Also, negotiating Food and Agriculture related agreements and debating and setting future policies.
The FAO is very much a source of knowledge and information on all leading, significant Food and Agriculture issues. It helps both developing countries and also countries in transition in order to modernise and improve Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries practices and thereby ensure good nutrition for all.
